Years ago, people would say to me, Barb, why are you niche-ing in an area of business that may be obsolete in a few years.

Well, look at what has happened in 2020! An unprecedented Health Crisis, affecting the world, called Corona-virus or COVID-19.

Let me tell you, why I niched in these areas when I first started my VA business, was because that is where my experience and skill set lied. I had been working on the road as a BDM (Business Development Manager) for many years, working in industries doing face to face sales, to B2B and B2C.

I used those transferable skills and honed my experience working as a VA, by refining my techniques in becoming one of the most known VAs in Australia who specialises in Business Development and Lead Generation.

Since this Health Crisis began and after it leaves our country and the world, the way we do business will be extremely different than ever before.

Many people will close their doors and have their employees working from home, there will be many out of work and wanting to start their own businesses from their home office.

Less people will have that face to face interaction or meetings because of this health scare and don’t think it may not happen again down the track, because it may do. It may not be a 1 in 100-year health crisis, how does anyone know!!!!!

Most business is now done online or will become online, everything is digital, social media is used every day. If a business is wanting to obtain and prospect other business, they will need to develop and be leveraging existing relationships. Businesses will be looking for people with interpersonal skills, able to target new prospects and manage inbound/outbound prospect requests. Businesses will be looking for someone that is a hunter, committed to achieving targets, able to market and network virtually and someone that can actually write and write well.

So as for those telling me years ago that I niched and specialised in an area that will not be needed and obsolete, well, quite the opposite!!!!!

As a Virtual Assistant who specializes in Business Development and Lead Generation, coupled with social media marketing, content writing and project management and administration, my business is growing and exceeding my expectations and goals that I set out in my 5 year-plan years ago.
